Chance of Snow

I chose this image because it is abstract and makes you wonder what exactly your looking at. This was taken from inside my car looking out at a building and a street light. The subtle blues compliment the dark blacks and bright whites. This image communicates both abstraction and a sense of peace and tranquility.

  1. I like the abstraction in this photo. I kept trying to guess what it was before I read the description. At first it looked like black ice with reflections on it. The layers and texture give this photo great depth. I feel like there are two entities interacting with each other. There is the one white light on the left that is by itself and then the cluster of blueish-green lights on the right. Awesome

  2. I agree with you on the abstractness of this photograph, but what I find compelling is not its level of abstraction, but the amount of detail within the photograph. Although it takes a second or two to figure out what you are looking at, once you figure this out you can't help but admire and appreciate the detail and sharpness of the snowflakes on your windshield. Add to that the soft, out-of-focus, and illuminating background, and the detail of the snowflakes becomes increasingly intricate and beautiful.
